Meeting residents at Grove Park

A warm welcome to our new Grove Park residents

Updated: 29 November 2021 at 08:01am

We are delighted to welcome residents of 1,500 homes in Grove Park to our Phoenix community.

Phoenix has today taken on the management of these homes from another housing association L&Q, following consultation with residents this summer. The transfer has been designed to enable L&Q to help fund the development of more new, high quality homes in south London, while enabling Phoenix to grow its resident-led community gateway model.

The transfer means thousands more residents will be able to get involved with Phoenix, from shareholding membership up to positions on our Board. Under our rules the Chair must be a Phoenix tenant and residents are the largest group on our Board.

All residents in Grove Park will have received a welcome pack from us – including an invite to our Winter Wonderland event at Forster Memorial Park on Saturday 4 December. Residents will receive a further letter later this week giving details of tenancy numbers, which will allow them to access our online resident portal MyPhoenix.

Phoenix Chair Carmen Simpson said: “We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved over the last 14 years as one of the few resident-led housing associations in the UK. This is a brilliant opportunity to enable more residents to get involved and steer the future direction of their community. We’re looking forward to meeting lots of new faces over the coming weeks.

“We’d like to thank L&Q for offering us this opportunity and working with us to make it a reality. It’s also been a fantastic collective effort by our staff and I’m very proud of them.

“We believe that more social housing residents across the UK should have a greater say over the services that affect their lives. As we grow at Phoenix, we will continue to press the case for better resident involvement and a stronger resident voice.”

In light of the transfer, we expect that we may receive a large volume of queries over the coming days and we thank everyone for their understanding if there are longer calling waiting times or any disruption to our usual services. Please click here for a list of our FAQs.
