Local residents will benefit from 45 new affordable homes in Catford this spring as one of our schemes, Velo House, nears completion.

Named after the Catford velodrome and located on the site of the Catford Job Centre, local residents will benefit from private balconies, a communal garden and free membership to Zipcar club.

On Wednesday 2 March, we welcomed the Mayor of Lewisham Damian Egan and Rushey Green Ward Cllrs Louise Krupski and James Walsh visited Velo House to see the progress of the new homes.

Carmen Simpson, resident and Chair at Phoenix Community Housing said: “We are pleased to show the Mayor and Councillor Bell around one of our newest developments to discuss our plans for the site. As a resident-led organisation, people are at the heart of everything we do, so we look forward to delivering much needed affordable homes to local people in south Lewisham.”

Phoenix is planning to develop 200 new affordable homes over the next three years for the community. This year, the organisation purchased the disused Catford police station and will develop proposals for the site, which will provide a large number of much needed affordable homes but will also include opportunities for employment and training to local residents.  Phoenix has also gained planning permission for the first Passivhaus Scheme in Lewisham.
